How to Improve Your Workplace Ergonomics

by | Jun 28, 2023

Do you work from home? Are you someone who works in an office or at a desk? Chances are, you have noticed neck pain, shoulder pain, or back pain and it’s probably due to the way your workstation is set up. We’re here to talk about how important workplace ergonomics are and help you focus on a smart, safe and comfortable arrangement when possible. You can help reduce some of the pressure, cramping, strain and pain just by making some minor changes. For the rest, chiropractic care and chiropractic adjustments can help you feel even better!

What are workplace ergonomics?

Workplace ergonomics is the detailed study and application of the tips, tricks, design, equipment, angles, setup and practicality of your workplace and how to make it more comfortable and productive. The ultimate goal of workplace ergonomics is to reduce stress, back pain, headaches, neck pain, stiffness, poor posture,  fatigue, strain and even injuries by optimizing how and where you work.

How can you improve your workplace ergonomics?

It does not have to be expensive or difficult to make some improvements to your work station.

Our biggest tips include:

  • Choosing seating and equipment (desk) that improve your posture.
  • Using a wrist support with your keyboard. This will help keep your hands and wrists at the correct angle and position while typing. You’ll be less likely to end up with carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Positioning your monitor at eye level. This will reduce eye strain, headaches and neck pain
  • Finding a chair with lumbar support to reduce lower back pain. A lot of our chiropractic adjustments are due to individuals having poor posture or sitting too long at work.
  • Focusing on good posture when seated.
  • Investing in other office supplies like a footrest, head rest, headset, adjustable monitor stand and even a standing desk or a sit/stand workstation. Moving and adjusting how you work will do wonders.
